This course is for candidates who have completed the Level 2 Aerobics or Gym Instructor course and are seeking to develop their teaching skills to include water based exercise. The course will provide you with all the skills and knowledge you need to teach a broad range of clients in the water.
This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to plan and prepare a water based exercise session. This may include young people in the 14-16 age range, provided they are part of a larger adult group. Client groups also covered are older adults, ante and postnatal clients and disabled clients provided the relevant contraindications and key safety guidelines are observed. You will learn how to use the water to provide an effective exercise session in a variety of formats.
This practical unit is delivered in a classroom area and in a swimming pool in the form of teaching workshops, practical experiences, group discussion and power point presentations.
Practical - After planning a session within the course guidelines, you need to bring a participant (a friend or a relative) to the training venue and lead them and other members of the class (min 8) through your planned session. A trained assessor will monitor your performance against set criteria that you will have become familiar with during the course. Following a short evaluation, you will receive your result.
Course costs include handbook, CYQ Certificate and all assessment materials. Home practice required. You do not have to be able to swim to take part in this course, although you must be confident in the water.
